Background: This antibody recognizes an
excellent marker for certain carcinomas such as
adenocarcinoma of the colon, transitional cell
carcinoma of the bladder and Merkel cell skin
tumors. It can be used in the detection of
intestinal and gastric foveolar epithelium,
urothelial cells and Merkel cells of the epidermis
as well as tumors of their origin (e.g. primary
and metastatic colorectal cancer).
Adenocarcinomas of the breast and lung and
neuroendocrine tumors of the lung are
essentially negative.
Specificity: This antibody is specific for the 46
kDa cytokeratin 20.
Species Reactivity: Human, others not
tested.
Ig Isotype:
Mouse IgG2a
Immunogen: Electrophoretically purified
cytokeratin 20 from human intestinal mucosa.
Format:
50 μg of lyophilized purified ascites.
Reconstitute with 1 ml distilled water.
Storage and Stability:
For use within one month of purchase, store at
4°C. For long term, aliquot antibody into small
volumes and store at -20°C. Avoid freeze/thaw
cycles.
Applications and Suggested Dilutions:
Immunohistochemistry (Protease pretreatment
required for paraffin-embedded
tissue sections) Use at approximately 5 μg/ml.
Western blot: Use at approximately 5 μg/ml.
Studies of cultured cell lines HT-29, LoVo,
DLD-1, SW1116, CaCo-2 and RT-4.
The optimal dilution for a specific application
should be determined by the researcher.
