Model OC Vascular Occluders -?

DESCRIPTION
IVM Occluders are made entirely of silicone rubber – a material of proven physiologic compatibility. Occluders are sized according to their lumen diameter, ranging from 2 mm to
24 mm. They are used for non-clinical applications.

Occluders are designated by the prefix OC, followed by a numeral corresponding to their lumen diameter in millimeters (e.g.: OC2, OC4, OC10, etc.).

Heavy Duty occluders are available in size 10 to 24 mm lumen diameter – they feature more rugged construction than regular occluders.

Because of thicker cuff materials, heavy duty occluders overcome greater back pressure (well beyond the physiologic range), making them much more resistant to rupturing. They are designated by the suffix HD (e.g.: OC10HD, OC12HD, OC16HD, etc.).

Occluders should be handled with care.? They can easily be punctured or cut by surgical instruments.? With proper care they can be used indefinitely.

OPERATION
The mode of operation is as follows:?

1) The occluder cuff is applied around the surgically exposed blood vessel and is secured by tying sutures through the eyelets.?

2) To occlude the vessel, air or water is
injected into the actuating tubing with a syringe, thereby inflating the diaphragm and occluding the vessel.

3) To deflate, air or water is withdrawn.

Response is very rapid. Occlusion can be maintained for several hours, as long as the occluder is pressurized. For prolonged occlusions, the device should be filled with non-volatile, inert liquids. Glycerin is especially recommended for very long term occlusion.
