- ≥ 7000 U/mg. Unit definition: One milligram inhibits ≥ 0.75 miiligrams of trypsin using the BAEE assay system. Assay Method: The method of assay is based on that of Laskowski, M. (1955), Methods in Enzymology, 2,37. Ed. by Colowick, S.P. and Kaplan, N.O. New York: Academic Press, Inc.. Inhibitor is added to a trypsin solution of known activity and the residual activity measured spectrophotometrically using N-benzoyl-L-arginine as substrate. A trypsin unit is that amount of enzyme causing an increase of absorbance at 253 nm of 0.001 per minute at 25°C.
