Heparin-binding growth factor 2 (FGF2 or bFGF) is an angiogenic agent in vivo and is a potent mitogen for a variety of cell types in vitro. FGF2 is expressed in granulosa and cumulus cells, in hepatocellular carcinoma cells, but not in non-cancerous liver tissue.
