Background:
The antibody recognizes a nuclear antigen that
is present in the cytoplasm and nuclei of
proliferating cells (paraformaldehyde fixation,
Triton X-100 permeabilization). Antigen is
absent from non-stimulated lymphocytes of
healthy human donors, but is present in early G1
stage cells after 12 hours of stimulation with
PHA. An increase of 400 is observed in cells
in mitosis (determined by analysis of K562 cells
synchronized with colcemide). IPO-38 does not
block binding of the Ki-67 antibody.
Specificity:
The antibody recognizes a 14-16 kDa nuclear
antigen (determined by Western blot analysis of
Raji cells).
Species Reactivity:
Human and mouse (determined by IIF), others
not tested.
