Technical Information
HiScreen MabSelect columns are part of the process development platform available from GE Healthcare. Four prepacked HiScreen columns with MabSelect SuRe? LX, MabSelect SuRe, MabSelect, and MabSelect Xtra? are available as ideal columns for capture of monoclonal antibodies (MAbs).

Due to the small column volume (4.7 ml) and 10 cm bed height, these columns are excellent tools for method optimization, parameter screening, robustness testing, and convenient scaling up. Process flow velocities can be applied, since the 10?cm bed height gives enough residence time and the results can then serve as basis for linear process scale up. If necessary, two columns can easily be connected in series to give a bed height of 20?cm.

Chromatography media prepacked in different HiScreen columns are also available in other formats and as bulk packs, which makes it possible to use the same media for development work, pilot studies, and routine production.

MabSelect is designed for fast purification of MAbs from large sample volumes. It is compatible with high flow rates and high pressure when scaling up.
MabSelect Xtra is designed for higher binding capacity, allowing binding from samples with high expression levels of the MAb.
MabSelect SuRe is designed with an alkali-tolerant, protein A-derived ligand, allowing the use of 0.1 to 0.5 M sodium hydroxide for cleaning-in-place (CIP). It has a high binding capacity and is a good choice for feed streams with typical titers of ~1 to 3 g/l.
MabSelect SuRe LX has an exceptional high dynamic binding capacity for high-titer cultures of antibodies (> 3 g/l) at longer residence times. MabSelect SuRe LX is designed with the same alkali-tolerant, protein A-derived ligand as in MabSelect SuRe, which makes the medium stable in sodium hydroxide concentrations as high as 0.5 M.
