孕酮（Progesterone）又稱為黃體酮，是卵巢分泌的具有生物活性的主要孕激素，負責與生殖有關的活動，如乳房腺體發育、參與月經周期以及妊娠的建立和維持。此外，孕酮還參與支持妊娠期間的生理過程，包括糖類、蛋白質和脂質代謝的變化、體溫調節、腎小管對鈉的重吸收以及肺泡和心房二氧化碳分壓（pCO2）的降低。孕酮和雌性激素的關系密不可分，兩者都是相當重要的女性激素。雌性激素的作用主要是促使女性第二性征發育成熟，而孕酮則是在雌激素作用的基礎上，進一步促進第二性征的發育成熟，兩者之間有協同作用。
